How to look after your mattress

Position your mattress on an appropriate base

Slat base

Timber slats should be no more than 70mm apart. On a double, queen or king size bed, slats should have a minimum thickness of 35mm or be supported by a centre rail.

Padded box base

Box bases can be sprung or unsprung and should have at least seven legs or castors. They usually have a metal frame and sometimes have storage drawers.

Platform bed

This type of base has a solid wooden base with no springs or slats. It should have ventilation holes in the base.

Use a mattress protector and air your bed regularly

To help keep your mattress clean and dry, we recommend using a quality mattress protector and regularly airing the mattress with bedding removed but avoiding direct sunlight. You can also lightly vacuum your mattress from time to time.

Spot clean with a damp cloth

If your mattress becomes stained or marked, you can clean it with a damp cloth. Allow the mattress to dry before remaking the bed. Donâ€t use cleaning fluids, because they could damage the mattress materials.

Keep the labels intact

For warranty purposes, please do not remove any of the mattress labels.

Don’t lift and carry by the handles

The mattress handles are designed to help you position the mattress on the base. Please do not use them to lift or carry your mattress.
